Mississippi Federation Takes Aim at Human Trafficking

Awareness Campaign brings hope to trafficked victims, sends message to traffickers that MS is not their safe haven

The Mississippi Federation of Republican Women began promoting human trafficking awareness at its Legislative Day luncheon in March 2017 with a captivating speaker, Jody Dyess of FREE International, who stunned legislators and Republican women with his knowledge and experiences in dealing with human trafficking. Immediately afterward, they began their awareness campaign by encouraging MFRW clubs to host community seminars to help point out the signs of victims and bring awareness of trafficking to their communities.

On January 26, at its annual Chairman’s Awards Dinner, the Arizona Republican Party recognized the following members of the Arizona Federation Republican Women as being leading conservative activists in the State. 
· Huachuca Area RW named Most Outstanding Republican Club in the State, from among 100 clubs
· Jeni White (Chandler RW) received the Outstanding Party Worker of the Year Award
· Former NFRW President Rae Chornenky was recognized as Arizona’s Outstanding Legislative District Chairman 
· Connie Sunday (Ahwatukee RW) awarded Rookie of the Year
· Sandra Laney (Yavapai County RW) awarded Best County Worker

Thousands of Phone Calls Help City's First Woman Mayor Win Reelection

On May 9, Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert won a second term as the city's first woman mayor. Through a Call to Action issued by the National Federation of Republican Women, Republican women across the nation made thousands of phone calls to help Stothert, a member of Republican Business and Professional Women of Omaha, cross the finish line. She resoundingly defeated her Democrat opponent, Senator Heath Mello, by a margin of 7 points, 53% to 47%.
