In response to the BRILLIANT action President Trump took (if anyone in the conservative movement is concerned by this):

President Trump was very clear for well over a decade what his stance on Iran going nuclear was....it is not allowed to happen...period. 79% of this country, myself included, agree with that stance.

He tried to negotiate with Iran for over two months in this term alone, but was being strung along and getting nowhere. I don't even care how close they were to a nuclear weapon (although I believe they were close), the fact that they were not willing to agree to not go nuclear tells us everything we need to know. We literally cannot afford another North Korea. And, the Ayatollah regime is a much bigger threat.

This was a very strategic move. Partner with Israel to avoid anything boots on the ground and significantly hinder their defenses by wiping out as many of this regime's leaders and reducing their missile stores, damaging a couple nuclear facilities, and crippling their air space. Then use our military to knock out the very hard to reach nuclear facility. If you're not going to agree to not go nuclear, we're going to force you to by destroying your progress until you do.

This was accomplished without a single US boot on the ground and no life lost...hence the night strike directly to facilities. You all saw the forces for this mission, if the President wanted war, he could've done significantly more damage.

Let's hope the result of this is what we need it to be. Iran retaliated already that night to save face by sending a missile barrage to Israel, and they engaged the UN, who will do nothing. Even though they won't say it, most of them are glad this was done as well. It'll all be for show. Then Iran comes to the table for peace. No war required.

If they don't come to the table for peace, which is possible, and fears the pursuit of regime change remember:

Not all regime changes are the same. If you look throughout history, some have brought stability and freedom...like the fall of the Soviet Union or the transition in South Korea...while others, such as Iraq and Libya, created power vacuums that made things worse. We can't throw every regime shift into the same category. Iran is its own unique regime.

That said, while it is not what we want to see happen, we have to be honest about the current reality. If Iran’s Supreme Leader refuses to come to the table for peace, regime change won’t be just a theory. Those in the region who live under the daily threat of the Iranian regime’s constant aggression and terrorism will move forward with their agenda. We don't want to go to war to stop that either, that would be wrong on many levels. Countries like Israel, and others in the Middle East, are directly and constantly affected in ways we simply aren’t. They have a higher stake in seeing that threat neutralized, and I don't blame them. Even the people of Iran themselves have a higher stake in wanting a new regime, they have been directly terrorized by Ayatollah's regime for decades.

What we can and need to do is be prepared. I believe the President is doing that. He's not pushing for war, but putting protective measures in place to shield the U.S. from any possible nuclear threat (that is now done) and any fallout if and when a a regime change is sought after. We don’t have to lead a regime change, nor should we start a war, but we do need to recognize that ignoring the threat won’t stop others from dealing with it in the ways they see fit. And, we should be in full support of our ally, Israel, and our President as he navigates these waters.
