Club President Pens Op-Ed on Importance of Title IX, Fairness in Girls' Sports
In recognition of the anniversary of the passage of Title IX, The California Globe published an op-ed written by South Placer Republican Women Federated President Jean Pagnone. Titled Girls' Sports: Misogyny Masquerading as Empathy, the article not only highlights the importance of Title IX and fairness in girls' sports, but also addresses the fact that there are only two genders: "Every cell of a human body betrays a person’s gender. Should an archaeologist stumble upon the decayed body of a human being, that body will betray the individual as male or female. Whatever a person decides to identify as is irrelevant because it is binary and no one has a choice. That is science. That is truth." Ending with a call to action, it is a reminder that all of us need to be brave in the face of name calling and criticism. It's time to stand up and fight for our girls and their futures because the rights, safety, and language of women is being erased.
