Celebrating Women's History Month

The Washington Federation of Republican Women (WFRW) is recognizing Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers in honor of Women's History Month.

Cathy, a long time member of Ponderosa Republican Women of Spokane County and WFRW, has represented the 5th Congressional District since 2004. She has served in leadership as the House Republican Conference Chair and is now the Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader. She is the first woman to hold this position.

Cathy is known for her faith, encouragement of women and passion for serving Eastern Washington. Recently she gave a powerful speech at a Communications and Technology Subcommittee hearing about government censorship and the silencing of political views. Listen to it or read the transcript

On International Women’s Day, Cathy said, " I was proud to introduce the Girls LEAD Act to help build a stronger pipeline for young women to run for political office and encourage them to seek leadership positions in the private sector. When women engage, democracies are stronger, foreign aid is more effective, and the world is safer. My hope is that this legislation will empower women and support a new generation of transformational leaders in democracies around the world."

WFRW is so grateful to Cathy for her commitment to women and applaud her efforts in standing up for our freedoms.
