ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Ann Schockett, President of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW), issued the following statement regarding the situation in Afghanistan.

“On behalf of the members of the NFRW, my heart aches for the tragedy facing the people of Afghanistan,” Schockett said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the service members and civilians killed today by a suicide bomber at the Kabul Airport. We also continue to pray for the safe evacuation of all the American citizens remaining in Afghanistan and our allies.”

Schockett continued, “We are saddened and angered by the poor planning and poor decision-making made by the Biden Administration in carrying out this withdrawal of troops. We call upon our Congressional leaders to demand the immediate resignation of the national security advisors responsible for these acts of incompetence and for President Biden to appoint capable leaders in their place.”

Founded in 1938, the National Federation of Republican Women is the largest grassroots Republican women’s organization in the country. Building leaders, energizing communities and keeping America strong, NFRW empowers women from all backgrounds in the political process and provides a forum for women to serve as leaders in the political, government, and civic arenas.
