The filibuster may come in handy for Republicans in the future. For now, just let the Democrats be responsible for the egregious shutdown.

The filibuster used to be a shield against tyranny. However, it has become a tyrannical sword for the minority party. It is no longer a safeguard, but a means of refusing to come to the table and do the work required to reach a mutually beneficial compromise that serves the constituents, the citizens of the United States.

Absolutely not! I can’t believe Trump wants to make this terrible mistake. The filibuster is there for a reason. It gives the minority caucus an important tool. Doing away with it for political expediency is a mistake. Especially since Republicans will one day be the minority caucus again. Perhaps sooner than later. Perish the thought…
