The filibuster may come in handy for Republicans in the future. For now, just let the Democrats be responsible for the egregious shutdown.

The filibuster used to be a shield against tyranny. However, it has become a tyrannical sword for the minority party. It is no longer a safeguard, but a means of refusing to come to the table and do the work required to reach a mutually beneficial compromise that serves the constituents, the citizens of the United States.

Absolutely not! I can’t believe Trump wants to make this terrible mistake. The filibuster is there for a reason. It gives the minority caucus an important tool. Doing away with it for political expediency is a mistake. Especially since Republicans will one day be the minority caucus again. Perhaps sooner than later. Perish the thought…

I believe Trump's being manipulated and/or this is being done as the "better option" in some deal. We must take care to not allow ideology to cloud our judgment into ridding ourselves of safeguards. (This goes for any piece of the U.S. Constitution, as well).
