Republican Nominee for. U.S. House, New Mexico's 1st District

By Nancy Johnson, Missouri

Michelle Garcia Holmes, candidate for New Mexico’s 1st congressional district, is reviving the conservative values of central New Mexicans.

The district comprises much of Albuquerque and the outlying rural counties. Running a grassroots campaign across CD1, Michelle shares the voices of the people when she says, “Things that grow under Democrat control … crime, gas prices, inflation, homelessness, taxes, poverty, debt, suicide, alcoholism, child mortality, fentanyl distribution, overdoses. I am sure I forgot a few things but you get the gist of it… Please stop voting Democrat!”

She delivers powerful messages for fighting against inflation, supporting traditional education with opportunities to choose, border security that keeps drug and human trafficking cartels at bay, and policies that enrich New Mexico’s small business community and encourage the development of the natural state resources. For the future generations of New Mexico she says, “These precious angels do not need a 32 trillion-dollar debt.”

Her Democrat incumbent opponent is a member of the Progressive Caucus supporting all the wrong-headed policies of the Biden Administration and Speaker Pelosi. To her Democrat opponent, Michelle is pleased to share the thoughts of a gentleman from Estancia, NM: “It is always a special moment in time when a long-time Democrat tells you he is voting for you!”

In contrast, Michelle has a career record of effective, positive leadership. She is a veteran of the Albuquerque Police Department working in units fighting crimes against children, sexual assault, and property. She served as chief of staff to the New Mexico Attorney General's office, serving during the King administration. Here, she helped establish the Attorney General’s Government Accountability Division. Legislative initiatives include the Child Solicitation by Computers Act passed by the state legislature in 2007 and the Human Trafficking law enacted in 2008. Through congressional collaboration, she successfully developed statewide educational programs and grants aiding pregnant teenagers and young mothers.

Michelle is not only an accomplished public servant, she is also a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She and her husband, Earl Holmes, are raising five “amazing children.” She is a Blue Star Mother and daughter of a veteran.

Michelle is endorsed by the New Mexico Fraternal Order of Police and is included on the National Republican Congressional Committee's Young Gun list. She is a member of San-Bern Federated Republican Women.
