Club Hosts Baby Shower for County Pregnancy Center

April Showers Bring May Flowers ... and the support of an organization in Jacksonville whose mission is to assist women who find themselves with an unplanned pregnancy.  

Onslow County Republican Women’s Club hosted a baby shower in support of First Hope at the April meeting. First Hope director and guest speaker Krysia Davis shared with the members the services that are provided at the facility.  

First Hope was originally known as the Onslow County Pregnancy Center. It started in 1989 with the passion of Kathy Kane and Diana Jones, two women who had a heart for expectant moms with an unplanned pregnancy who were considering abortion. Five hundred lives have been saved so far due to the work of Hope First. Krysia shared that the center received its first ultrasound machine in 2018 and that it has had a huge impact on those considering abortion. “It has been a game-changer,” she said.   

Krysia also spoke briefly about each of the additional services that are provided at the center, including parenting classes, a fatherhood program, a program that helps women who have had abortions find healing and hope, and the center's most popular - the Baby Boutique.

Club members brought gift-wrapped items for the Baby Boutique and enjoyed baby shower refreshments prepared and served by the Hospitality Committee and the America First Committee.

Onslow County Republican Women’s Club is humbled to be a part of the work of Hope First and will continue to support their mission as they positively impact women in Onslow County.
