Seven members of Delaware federated clubs were honored for their tireless service to the GOP by receiving the 2024-2025 Volunteer Awards at the Republican State Committee Dinner, held June 6 at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington.
Three members from the New Castle County Republican Women's Clubs were award winners
Joan Godwin, RD Chair for District 4, received the August 2024 Volunteer of the Month Award. Joan was also awarded the 2024 Delaware Republican of the Year honor. Joan has been a candidate for State Office and is an active member of the Western New Castle County Region.
Debbie McKeown was awarded the Republican of the Month for January 2025. Debbie serves on the State GOP Election Integrity Committee and attends all Department of Election's meetings. She is the New Castle County Coordinator for the Older and Wiser Program, reaching out to senior living facilities to ensure residents can vote in our elections.
Joyce Hoover, of the New Castle County Colonial Region, was nominated and received the New Castle County Peg Hood Award. Peg Hood was an honored volunteer and mentor to the Delaware GOP for many years. Joyce has been communicating through Grassroots, an email thread she created several years ago to quickly spread pertinent informaton to voters throughout Delaware. She is usually the first to get information to the masses and serves as the New Castle County Republican Women's Club Public Relations Chair.
Kent County Republican Women's Club members received awards
Amber Kennedy, RD Chair of the 32nd District was named Republican of the Month for June 2024. A volunteer powerhouse, Amber is always first in line to schedule herself and fellow Republcans for parades, festivals and fundraisers. Amber assembled a thick binder of political information, with election district maps, pictures and contact information of Delaware's elected officials and brings that binder with her to community events, initiating a conversation with voters about issues affecting them and their families.
Cheryl Precourt was named Kent County's Peg Hood Award Winner. Cheryl is the immediate past Chair of the Kent County Republican Committee. A former candidate for the 32nd House of Representives District, Cheryl could always be found working to better the Republican Party in Kent County, whether at her desk in the County Headquarters or working to recruit candidates for local offices. Cheryl continues to work for the expansion of the Republican Party in Delaware.
The Sussex County DE GOP award presented to the Sussex County Republican Women's Club member
Renee Lozano received the Peg Hood Award for Sussex County. Renee is the personification of activity in the Sussex County Republican Committee's Headquarters. Renee runs the office and recruits, trains and schedules volunteers to keep the office open, staffed and upbeat.
We are fortunate to have these ladies as members of the Delaware Federation of Republican Women and congtatulate them on their honors.
