Club Hosts Christmas Toy Drive for Sundale Foundation’s Legacy Center
Visalia Republican Women Federated of California and Sundale Legacy Center helps parents be the heroes at Christmas.
Christmas is a wonderful time of year, especially for children of all ages. To help rural Tulare County families who are experiencing economic hardship be able to celebrate Christmas, club members collected in excess of 100 unwrapped toys and gifts for their children - ages 4 through 16 - and presented on November 13. The donation was made to Sundale Foundation’s Legacy Center “Christmas Toy Shop” in Tulare. Sundale Foundation started this community outreach last year, and Visalia RWF has successfully partnered with them both years.
Sundale Foundation works closely in partnership with Sundale Elementary School District. Their mission is “to strengthen our rural community by providing facilities, resources, and programs that inspire academic excellence, promote lifelong learning, build moral character, and enable students and adults to become successful, self-reliant citizens contributing to our Valley’s future.”
In addition to donating toys, 10 club members will join the Sundale Foundation team on Saturday, December 6, to wrap gifts. Each parent participating in the event will be given an appointment time to select Christmas gifts (3 per child) from the huge donated inventory. Volunteers wrap each gift under the parent’s supervision.
Sundale Foundation believes parents who have fallen on hard economic times deserve the dignity to provide Christmas gifts to their children. Community coming together to love on its children exemplifies the true meaning of Christmas!
