Club Sponsors 'What Patriotism Means to Me' Essay Contest
Lowndes County Republican Women of Columbus, Mississippi, sponsored an essay contest on patriotism for senior high school students at a local school.
Each student was asked to write an essay that defined patriotism from their perspective. The top five essay authors, along with their teacher who handled the essay selection, joined us for our November meeting. Each of the top five essay writers were given a certificate and a monetary gift. The teacher was presented a gift card for her assistance with the contest.
The winner read her phenomenal essay. In attendance were veterans who were recognized, along with Mississippi’s First Lady, Elee Reeves.
