NFRW's Membership Growth is the Proof

By Ann Schockett, NFRW President

I recently had the privilege of recognizing clubs and states within the National Federation of Republican Women for their remarkable achievements in growing their membership numbers by substantial amounts.

Coming on the heels of a bruising political campaign season, this was encouraging – particularly as two of the clubs recognized are located in bluer-than-blue California and another was in a Democrat-dominant part of Northern Virginia.

I also had the privilege as NFRW President to lead Strike Forces for and meet many of the Republican women who are now gracing the halls of Congress and statehouses across the country. Republican women are coming to the forefront of political life in America in greater numbers than ever before. Democrats have long enjoyed the stereotype of being the party friendliest to women voters, but more and more women aren’t buying what the Democrats are selling.

Why is that? After all the media loves to remind people that the Democrats have championed women’s rights with its support of ERA, narrowing of the wage gap, affirmative action, Title IX, and of course - the all-important abortion issue. What is driving more and more women to the Republican Party?

The answer is simple. Women don’t want to live in the America brought to you by today’s Democrat Party.

They don’t want to live in an America where job growth and economic opportunity is stifled by high taxes and excessive regulation. COVID-19 has severely impacted small business owners - many of whom are women.

They don’t want to live in an America where communities aren’t safe thanks to calls from Democratic leaders to defund the police or rogue prosecutors who pick and choose which laws they are going to uphold.

They don’t want to live in an America where they have no say over what sort of education they want for their children.

They don’t want to live in an America that doesn’t respect Second Amendment rights, even though everyone has an inherent right to defend themselves.

They don’t want to live in an America where health care is controlled by government rather than doctors and patients.

They don’t want to live in an America with an entertainment culture coarsened by excessive vulgarity and violence.

And they don’t want to live in an America where free speech, the right to worship, and America’s history are denigrated by the political and media elite.

In short, they want to live in an America that will be a better place for their children and grandchildren.

I’m pleased and proud of the growth of our NFRW clubs. The next four years will be challenging ones, but I am confident that the Democrats who currently control Washington will face stiff opposition from GOP opponents - particularly the newly elected Republican women who make up so much of the new freshman class in Congress.

Buckle up, NFRWarrior sisters. We have a fight on our hands, but one we win. The proof is in the numbers of women joining the National Federation of Republican Women.
