Club Hosts 2nd Annual Elizabeth Dole Dinner
On Saturday, March 26, the Rowan County Republican Women hosted their 2nd Annual Elizabeth Dole Dinner Honoring Republican Woman. The event was held at the West End Plaza Event Center in Salisbury, NC, and featured Elizabeth “Beth” Harris, author of "Thirteen Ballots: The Manufactured Scandal That Overturned an Election," as the Keynote Speaker.
As a Federated Women’s Club, it is the mission of the Rowan County Republican Women to support our local, state, and federal conservative elected officials and candidates. The evening recognized members of the Rowan County Republican Women’s Club who are currently elected officials or are running for office. These members include Salisbury Mayor Karen Alexander, Rowan County District Attorney Brandy Cook, Rowan County Commissioner Judy Klusman, District 19C Court Judge Beth Dixon, District 19C Court Candidates Cynthia Dry and Lauren Hoben, Rowan County Clerk of Superior Court Candidate Rebecca Saleeby, Rowan County Commissioner Candidate Angie Spillman, and US House NC12 Candidate Nalini Joseph. Including these Rowan women, there are almost 60 members of the North Carolina Federation of Republican Women running for office in 2022. Other local officials and candidates who were in attendance were recognized, as well.
This year’s speaker, Beth Harris, shared her research into the 2018 NC9 Congressional race in which her husband, Mark Harris, was declared the winner, but was soon pulled from the list of certified winners by a Democrat member of the State Elections Board. A manufactured scandal of ballot harvesting resulted in the race declared “tainted” and Harris was no longer going to Washington. After the years of ensuing controversy and boundless rumors, Harris was cleared of any wrongdoing, but the true story was never reported by the mainstream media. Mrs. Harris published her findings in her book. Her story is one that should encourage all voters to fully research rumors and hearsay before committing to the belief of mainstream media stories.
