American Legion's National Poppy Day is May 26

At North Carolina FRW's Spring Board Meeting, Armed Services Chair Betsy Miller related the history of the American Legion National Poppy Day Program and distributed poppies to each member.

The red poppy is a nationally-recognized symbol of sacrifice worn by Americans since World War I to honor those who served and died for our country in all wars. It reminds Americans of the sacrifices made by our veterans while protecting our freedoms.

Wear a poppy on National Poppy Day, May 26, to honor those who have worn our nation's uniform.
