OKLAHOMA CITY – Texas Republican leader Kit Whitehill was awarded the prestigious Ronald Reagan Leadership Award during the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) 42nd Biennial Convention held Sept. 28-Oct. 1 in Oklahoma City. A resident of Coppell and president of the Texas Federation of Republican Women (TFRW), Whitehill received the award at a luncheon on Sept. 30.

The award was established by the NFRW in 2005 to recognize the outstanding leadership of one state president and is presented every two years at the biennial convention.

Whitehill and four other state presidents were selected as nominees based on overall leadership and initiation of new programs, increases in membership, participation in national programs, and excellence in public relations and campaign efforts.

Under Whitehill’s leadership, TFRW has achieved significant milestones, including the establishment of the 40 Under 40 Fellowship to empower young women as future leaders. TFRW also has chartered 17 new clubs, reported over 3.3 million political activity hours totaling over $100 million volunteer dollars, and played an integral part in the registration of 167,000+ new Republican voters. For these and other efforts, TFRW has been recognized with numerous national awards for overall excellence, political and campaign work, public relations, and membership growth.

These state presidents are finalists in the Reagan Award contest:

  • Cindy Casaus, Arizona
  • Elizabeth Girard, New Hampshire
  • Kimberly Remak, Mississippi
  • Billie Jean Liedahl, Washington

Founded in 1938, the National Federation of Republican Women is the largest grassroots Republican women’s organization in the country. Building leaders, energizing communities and keeping America strong, NFRW empowers women from all backgrounds in the political process and provides a forum for women to serve as leaders in the political, government, and civic arenas.
