Dressed in Signature Red, 150 Republican Women Leaders Participate in Briefings, Advocacy Efforts

The National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) hosted Legislative Day on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., on March 14, 2024. Meetings were held on the Senate side of the Capitol Visitor’s Center and in the Russell Senate Office Building.

In their first trip to the Hill since pre-Covid 2018, Republican women had an opportunity to meet with U.S. Senators and Representatives, including Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) and Senator Ted Budd (R-NC) who participated in a panel discussion on “Legislation that Matters” led by Debra Boyd of Wiregrass Republican Women. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS) and Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) also spoke at the morning session.

The afternoon session was held in the historic Kennedy Caucus Room and featured Senator Katie Boyd Britt (R-AL) as the keynote speaker. Senator Britt spoke of her experiences as a freshman senator and received two standing ovations from the 150-plus in attendance.

The NFRW Legislation and Research Committee, under the direction of Chair Judy Barlow, was tasked with the planning of this year’s Legislative Day. Judy and her committee spent weeks researching the issues and have developed a set of priorities with a robust package of print and digital media designed to be used in lobbying efforts.

NFRW’s initiatives include:

A new resource provided by the NFRW Legislation and Research Committee this year is a Zoom/Podcast series called "America's Kitchen Table," hosted by Chair Judy Barlow and featuring speakers and discussion of the everyday “kitchen table” issues that matter most to us.

NFRW members can access these materials and resources by visiting the Legislation and Research Resource Page.
