Republican Nominee for U.S. Senate, Illinois

By Debra Taylor, Pennsylvania

“America’s recovery starts November 8,” according to Kathy Salvi, candidate for U.S. Senate from Illinois. “I’m running to stop Biden. I’ll work to restore American energy independence and stop the free flow of money by the federal government. We need to put a check on the Joe Biden disaster.”

Kathy believes the choice in her race is clear. Her Democratic opponent is Joe Biden’s biggest fan and reportedly votes to support the President's agenda close to 100 percent of the time.

Raised in Waukegan, Illinois, Kathy worked her way through high school and began learning the value of hard work when she got her first job busing tables at the age of 14. She earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Loyola University, and pursued a career in law. After passing the bar in 1984, Kathy committed herself to public service. She served as a judicial clerk to the Hon. Justice Harry D. Strouse of the Second Appellate District, Illinois.

After nearly a year observing lawyers in court and working on several criminal cases, Kathy became an assistant public defender with the Lake County Public Defender’s Office. Here she got a firsthand look at the criminal justice system and learned what worked and what did not. In 1987, she entered the private practice of law and currently serves as a partner at the law firm of Salvi & Maher.

Kathy is running for U.S. Senate because she believes her state has been crippled by one-party rule and that this lack of leadership has done serious damage to Illinois families and businesses.

If elected Kathy has vowed to be an effective leader and get things done on the issues that matter to the people of Illinois. She will work to create good jobs, lower costs and energy prices, make our communities safer, support law enforcement and ensure parents have control over their child’s education. She will aim to bring back faith in our government, restore public trust and reinstate civility to public service.

Kathy and her husband, Al, reside in Mundelein and have six children and three grandchildren. Kathy is a member of Chicago Republican Women's Network.
