Independence Day 2023: Freedom is Never Free

As we celebrate our national independence with fireworks, parades, and yummy food, we must understand that “freedom is never free.” We must be vigilant through all generations at a cost of time and energy. And in times of revolutions and wars, we must be willing to give our all to preserve our sovereignty and freedoms as an endowment to subsequent generations.

PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) is a mental health problem that some people develop after experiencing or witnessing a life-threatening event, like combat, a natural disaster, a car accident, or sexual assault. If thoughts and feelings from a life-threatening event are upsetting you or causing problems in your life, you may have PTSD. Here is the good news: you can get treatment for PTSD, and it works.

Tucked away between the anniversary of a famous military campaign (D-Day, June 6, 1944) and American Independence Day is a lesser-known yet significant day that doesn’t get as much publicity. National Flag Day is June 14, the date that the national flag was officially adopted 246 years ago in 1777.

Army's 248th Birthday, June 14 - Celebrate the Oldest U.S. Service

The U.S. Army will celebrate its 248th birthday on June 14, the same day we celebrate Flag Day. Older than the United States of America, the U.S. Army started as an all-volunteer army when it was created in 1775.
